Make an impact with ALPFA Chicago & The Greater Chicago Food Depository Join us for a meaningful day of service as we volunteer at the Greater Chicago Food Depository! During this hands-on Repack Session, we’ll help sort and repackage donated food that will be distributed to pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters across Cook County.

Complete GCFD Registration

Each person will need to create a profile, accept waiver, and register. It is highly encouraged for everyone to register in advance through GCFD's site: https://volunteers.chicagosfoodbank.org/registrations/7XLRO0yqOg/claim_spot

Getting there: Please plan to arrive 15-30 minutes early for your Repack session so GCFD can begin right on time with a brief orientation. Let us know if you plan to arrive late, volunteers will only be accepted 20 minutes past the start time.

Once you arrive, you will check-in in the main lobby, and from there you will be guided to our volunteer locker area and orientation room.

Parking: Free parking for volunteers is available. There are over 300 parking spots available for all volunteers, visitors, and Food Depository staff. Parking is available on a first come, first served basis. You may also use street parking on Karlov Ave. and Ann Lurie Place, next to the Food Depository.

Attire: Wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, and shirts that cover your shoulders. Additional FAQs can be found here.
